28 companies which produce and offer down- and feather-filled duvets and pillows as well as components necessary for the production of these articles join their forces within VDFI e. V.. The bedfeather industry processes down and feathers which are a secondary product of the poultry meat production in a sustainable way.

The members condemn any kind of down and feather production from living animals which infringe the European law and commit themselves not to obtain filling material deriving from tortured animals. This commitment is also included as additional part of the members' sales contracts and general terms and conditions.

Furthermore, the members of the association document their purchase of down and feathers within the framework of a traceability system. Regular audits carried out by neutral audit and certification organizations control the operation practice of the companies.
